Tomato Jungle

Our tomatoes share a large greenhouse with eggplants and peppers as these plants like it hot and thus do better in the hot humidity of the greenhouse. The tomatoes are trained along twine tied to the ceiling; tomatoes are a vine and are happy to grow very tall in this fashion. This makes it easier to harvest the fruit and is spatially economical.

The varieties of tomatoes we have include tomatoberry, which is a heart-shaped cherry tomato; sweet million and sweet 100, which are high-production sweet cherries; black krim, a purple heirloom from russia; early girl and early girl, which are both early producers; brandywine, a very tasty large heirloom and carolina gold, a yellow slicing tomato.

The greenhouse is always filled with glowing light and smells like the clover flowers that cover the floor; it makes for a pleasant place to sit and read or just relax in the early mornings and evenings.
